Our Mission & Vision

Our vision

The vision for Clay Vessels in AACtion  is consistent with the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Mission & Purpose

The mission of Clay Vessels in AACtion is to provide a way for symbol speakers to hear and receive Biblical instruction in naturally occurring contexts through their augmentative communication symbol system. We believe it is God’s will for His message to be shared so that hearts, lives, and minds may be won for Christ. By ministering to the symbol speakers, we will be ministering to their families, friends, educators, and others.

Clay Vessels in AACtion is going to be a non-profit corporation for the purpose of sharing the Gospel from the Word of God (the Bible)  to AAC communicators by providing a means for non-verbal individuals who utilize augmentative or alternative communication (AAC) to receive the Gospel and be able to communicate their understanding of the Word of God.

Many people who speak using augmentative communication or communication devices understand and express themselves in picture symbols. When they are “spoken” to in picture symbols, they are better able to understand and they build their understanding in their symbol system. To date there has not been a way to share the Gospel, the Bible, or Biblical instruction in their symbol systems. There has not been a consistent way for AAC communicators to learn about and thus receive and talk about Jesus using their symbols.  Those with different abilities, specifically those who use different symbol systems for communication, deserve to be receive the Gospel and Biblical instruction through their symbol system. Our purpose is to minister to AAC communicators by providing instructions for Christians and Christian organizations to share the Gospel in augmentative communication symbols and making available the methods for sharing the Gospel in symbols.

The instruction will include how to identify a potential AAC communicator, where to locate the resources, how to share the Gospel in symbols, videos, or podcasts. The methods include locating the relevant symbols on personal SGDs, closed-captioned videos sharing the gospel in symbols.

Our Beliefs & Values

At Clay Vessels in AACtion, our foundation is built upon biblical principles that guide every aspect of our ministry. We believe Jesus came to show us how to live a gospel life, a life of service.  We believe in creating an inclusive community where every person, regardless of their communication abilities, can experience and share God’s love through their expression of faith.

Unity

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called ; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.  Ephesians 4:1-6

Through Christ, we are one body despite our different abilities. We believe every person is created in God’s image and deserves an opportunity to worship, fellowship, and serve.  We believe this repreesents the full picture of the gospel.

Freedom in Christ

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.  Galatians 5:1

In Christ, we discover true freedom to live as God intended, free from the weight of sin and societal pressures. Our mission is to help everyone experience and share this freedom through Jesus’ love and service.

Love

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.  Luke 10:27

Love is the cornerstone of our faith. We strive to demonstrate God’s unconditional love by serving and uplifting AAC communicators, teaching them how to love like Jesus, so that they can love the people they encounter.

Salvation

We are committed to sharing the Good News that salvation is a gift through Jesus Christ. By providing access to the Gospel, we invite everyone to experience redemption and a relationship with Jesus.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.  John 3:16-17

Eternity

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”   John 15:5-8

Our work is fueled by the eternal hope found in Christ. We aim to prepare AAC communicators and their communities to live with the assurance of eternal life through faith in Jesus.

“Clay Vessels in AACtion exists to share the Gospel with individuals who use augmentative alternative communication (AAC), empowering them to become disciples of Christ and spread His word. Recognizing that words hold divine power, we aim to provide tools, resources, and training to ensure the Word of God is accessible to those who communicate through symbols, devices, or other AAC methods.”
